This one is a marriage of convenience story that takes place over maybe 2 months or so. The story mainly concerns the growing relationship between two people who had given up on relationships/love. There was a lot about PTSD and it was dealt with well within the understanding that people had about the illness two hundred years ago. Lovely relationship development. It was nice to see a family that dealt with scandal without casting out the offender which in this case was the heroine's younger sister. I did get some flashes of [b:Pride and Prejudice|1885|Pride and Prejudice|Jane Austen|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320399351s/1885.jpg|3060926] with that character though but I enjoyed them. It was nice to see some old friends from other books. Now we have to wait for the next one. Bummer... ( ) This one wasn't a great fit for me. Her offer of an arrangement in the beginning was absolutely cracked, and the idea that he would accept, given the circumstances, was just as ridiculous. This couple was not very bright, and somehow had even less emotional intelligence. I kept hoping they would improve, but they didn't until the very last moments. And they acted kind of meanly to each other repeatedly, in a very uncalled-for way. I just didn't end up enjoying it very much. From the previous books I had been expecting to like Ralph, but neither of them ever won me over. And on top of it I didn't feel their relationship developing, not much was there for most of the book and then near the end they're just in love. I liked their confrontations with their past alright, but on the whole it was a bit of a dud for me. no reviews | add a review
