It shows just how little I know in regards to the 'other victims' of the Holocaust. I know a fair amount of what went on during the Nazis' Occupation, but I have never really given it any thought about mixed races and biracial children. I have never heard of the expression 'Rhineland's Bastards'. I have seen a few sites where there was once a concentration camp and shall be visiting Auschwitz later this year and will remember what I have learned upon reading this book today, and say a silent prayer to all.

Rachael JanLynnette McCormick has written an excellent story about a young girl, Namib. Although a short story, I do recommend to all.

I would like to thank the author for sending me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ( )

I give the author a high five for bringing to light an aspect of history that has been kept low on the totem pole of information.
The horror of the persecution of Jews during Hitlers reign is common knowledge. Minorities were targeted and blamed for the woes of the country, I knew that. But the specific discrimination of blacks and mixed race citizens was shoved under the proverbial rug. 'Rhineland bastards ' is what the children were called!

Mccormick highlights this dark time through the short story of a young girl named Namib. Tho at points the reading seems a bit disjointed and the conversations stilted....overall...i give her kudos for enlightening us, for taking the initiative, for making the effort and succeeding in opening the readers eyes in the process of writing her book.
