... I've got two I've had on my TBR pile for awhile, Consolation and Clara Callan, so January sounds a great time to start them. Great idea.
I've already read The Book of Negroes which I thought was amazing, so at least I've read one of the books from the Canada Reads list. ... for my beat-up paperback of The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay,
a good-as-new hardcover edition of Consolation by Michael Redhill which I've been wanting to read for ages (and was half the price of the paperback now out in bookstores),
Charity Girl by Georgette ... I just finished Consolation by Michael Redhill; what a good story (or stories). Next up is Bel Canto by Anne Patchett. ... to be my next purchase, although I tend to be a little spontaneous in my book buying. I shall try to disipline myself ;-) Consolation is another one I want to get and read, ever since LynnB mentioned it, it does sound good. And Lawson has me hooked on Canadian settings. Consolation by Michael Redhill, which I learned of from someone in the group who was reading it over the summer. Has anyone read Michael Redhill's Consolation? If so, what did you think? ... (Viking)
On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan (Jonathan Cape)
What Was Lost by Catherine O'Flynn (Tindal Street)
Consolation by Michael Redhill (William Heinemann)
Animal's People by Indra Sinha (Simon & Schuster)
Winnie & Wolf by A.N. Wilson (Hutchinson)
I really liked The Inheritance of Loss I am now reading Consolation by Michael Redhill I like the material on early Toronto but find that the structure is not as interesting as that of his first novel Martin Sloane ... and The Death of Achilles Both were lots of fun- Russian detective in the 1880's- adventure and some history. Now reading Consolation by Michael Redhill I don't like it as much as his first novel which I could not put down- Martin Sloane
