Pull out your passport and travel to Scotland with JoAnn Durgin as she takes you on a romantic reading adventure to the historical Edinburgh Castle. Shelby Harmon has made the trip to honor her dying father’s wish of making sure an envelope made it to the hands of the addressee. But what does this sealed envelope contain? Who is this man the envelope is addressed to? And what connection does he have to her father? While there, Shelby meets Harrison Reed. They find themselves drawn to one another as Harrison takes Shelby on a whirlwind tour of the area. Shelby knows the trip will be brief, but she also knows she is having trouble resisting the attraction they have to each other. What will happen when It’s time to return home to Kentucky?
This was a lighthearted, fun book, with just enough mystery and suspense to make it appeal more than just romance readers. Just as I was sure I had figured out the end of the book, an unexpected turn of events peaked a renewed interest in me, carrying through to the last page. Although it takes place in Scotland, I did not find myself distracted by unfamiliar foreign words or accents. JoAnn did an excellent job of giving it a Scottish feel without breaking the flow of the story. Spiritual threads are woven throughout the story with an emphasis on trusting God in life’s decisions, and finding a peace in His leading. ( )
