Passionville, California is a small upscale community of the nearly-do-well who struggle each day to maintain the façade that their life is great. The truth is that things are not going so well. Many don’t have the means to pay their mortgages, and they certainly don’t have the income to furnish their mansions fittingly. Enter the relentless heat and humidity and…the Dew Point. Passionville is over eighty days into the hottest season on record, and the most humid, with dew point readings pushing eighty. Now, combined with mounting debt and relentless calls from creditors, as well as the incessant heat, humidity, and dew point, the people of Passionville quickly change. They crack. This phenomenon occurs over a long weekend, and as the temperature goes up, so does the body count. It’s not the heat or the humidity…it’s the dew point! Dew Point strums that nasty nerve inside us all. It’s a dormant nerve, awakening quickly for some and later for others…in any case, when rubbed the wrong way, the absolute worst in us comes out. Readers will encounter some very disturbing scenes that go on and on. Comic relief does come, but your laughter may be nervous.… (more)
