Het verhaal begint heel erg sterk met een aantal verhaallijnen. Maar halverwege worden de plots behoorlijk voorspelbaar en wordt het een soort kasteelroman. De schrijver neemt het daarna wel weer sterk op, maar verzandt dan doordat er teveel lijnen parallel lopen. Dat komt de diepgang niet ten goede. Eigenlijk zou dit boek met gemak uit 4 delen kunnen bestaan als de diverse personen beter gevolgd worden. Desalniettemin een sterk boek dat ik met plezier heb gelezen. ( )
