Ci si può opporre al nazismo ballando? E' successo a un gruppo di giovani legati fra loro da una forte amicizia e dalla comune passione per lo swing, la musica americana che venne proibita perchè "degenerata". Il film offre una convincente descrizione della condizione dei giovani di fronte al tentativo di nazificazione della società tedesca, nella Germania degli anni '30. (fonte: Cdec)

Liberamente ispirato a un fatto realmente accaduto. Negli anni '30 il nazismo mise fuorilegge la musica jazz, in favore di musiche prettamente nazionali come i valzer o Wagner. Così alcuni giovani di Amburgo poco più che adolescenti, si divertono ascoltando musica jazz americana e si rifiutano di entrare nella Hitler Jugend, rischiando dure punizioni. L'amore per lo swing diventa una forma di ribellione.
