Magic in the Moonlight is worth watching, not for the story, which is banal, but for the screen filled with saturated color, and the scenery of southern Europe. Surprisingly, most of the clothing is rather boring (with just two exceptions) and makes the actors look washed out in comparison. ( )

This was my first Woody Allen film cos he just strikes me as strange but plot sounded OK so thought I would try. It was better than expected. It wasn't roll on the floor funny but there were some humourous parts. It is rather declamatory like a theatre script which is a bit odd. And the sudden conversion of belief at about 30 mins is unbelievable. But no swearing, violence or sex so watchable in comfort by whole family. Hardly world changing but OK. ( )
