Review of the title story, read through Serial Reader:

One of Doyle's "weird and imaginative" works, The Captain of the Pole-Star tells a creepy tale set in the high north on a whaling vessel. It was likely informed by Doyle's own experiences in the Arctic -- also note that the first-person narrator is a doctor! The story is pretty good but not terribly scary, which I appreciated. I also liked the nautical terminology, given that the story is set on a ship. Worth checking out. ( )
