Review/critique: This was a fun book to read, it had many short bits from Dr. Seuss books which were titled differently in order to give advice. It was a fun read and it was very encouraging. It was a good poetry book b cause it showed among many elements of poetry it specifically showed rhyming which can be an essay way to introduce poetry.

The one and only Dr. Seuss dispenses invaluable advice about life in this collection of his most memorable quotes. Featuring over sixty pages of cherished Seuss art and quotes from such classics as The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hatches the Egg, Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, and many more, this humorous and inspiring collection is, indeed, a perfect gift for those just starting out . . . or those who are already on their way!

This book is truly incredible. It takes your favorite poems from early childhood and reinvents them, if you will, into categories of topics older children may face, such has facing a hardship, asking for help, being a friend, and more. By taking excerpts of your favorite books from childhood and representing them into a specific situation, it allows children, and adults, to hold on to tidbits of advice from Dr. Seuss that before was just a familiar rhyme. Every one or two pages of this book has an independent poem with it's own title, and references which Dr. Seuss book it was from. What all the poems have in common is that it offers good advice about life. This children's picture book is a good example of the poetry genre in the form of lyric poems or limericks because it is a collection of poems that rhyme, and are humorous.

This is an uplifting poetry story about how children can be guided through life such as surrounding yourself with good people and taking chances. These are situations students can relate to and apply to their own life.
Genre: realistic poetry
Media:The pictures are captivating because the author used the middle crease to add curiosity. The drawings are in markers, ink, colored pen. ( )
