Skip the first 70 pages. Seriously don't bother, even if I haven't read the first in the series it's bad. It gets better half-way through but...

This is definitely a teen novel, and a new author at that. The narrative breaks are non-existent so I have to keep going back to find them. The point-of-view changes are outright painful, given that there is no reference to whose POV you're reading other that a switch between pronouns. The characters have identical personalities (blood-thirsty and smug) despite being different character types (ie. the protective warrior, lone ranger, wise outsider, etc). And really, a barmaid with no weapons experience diving headfirst in battle and being useful warrior? After almost having a panic attack about leaving her bar? Not likely.

About the only thing I like about this book is the eye-rolling dragon. ( )

I started reading this book and was swept away into a world at war. Starting out I never imagined I would love this book so much. You love the characters and the new people who join them and cant wait to see where they will go next. The gold people excellent addition, the scaly man funny one i thought. This book will have you on the edge of your seat until your waiting for the next one to hit stores. The Baun are set to save the world. But at what cost? And with who at the end? ( )
