I do love me a good office romance – in fiction, not so much in real life – especially when, as in ‘Getting a Raise’, it is about a personal assistant falling for his boss. There are two ways this can go. One way is for the story to focus on the very real issues of potential power abuse to the problems of how to deal with separating work life from home life. The second way is for the focus to be on the emotions and heat between two men who have fallen for each other and decide, for one reason or another, to forget their inhibitions and go for it. I am happy to report this short story is of the second persuasion, and let me tell you, the heat is incredible.

Tayte is the extremely capable personal assistant to Nick, the CEO of a big company, and has been in this position for two years. He lusts after his boss with the best of them, but he isn’t even sure Nick is gay. So when there is an opening in the form of him standing close to Nick, in the man’s office, Tayte goes for it and kisses Nick.

Nick has wanted Tayte from the day he hired him, but wasn’t sure he’d stay (Nick is not easy on his assistants), then he was afraid of being accused of sexual harassment. But when Tayte takes the first step, the gloves come off. Actually, all their clothes come off and Nick takes the lead in ensuring both of them are extremely satisfied. And not just in the office…

If you like office romances, if you enjoy two men letting go of their inhibitions and restraint and, well, just going for it, and if you’re looking for a read that is a fairy tale of modern hotness, then you will probably enjoy this short story.
