I had been putting this serial off for a while. Well, it is a series of well written WTF and WTAF. I can't decide who I dislike the most Marco or Theoden. There is sex and violence everywhere. Holy shit it's everywhere. The plot is really good. I mean it is amazingly good. Language is quite graphically formal.

If this was on TV I'd watch it. ( )

First of all, I'm very happy to see how clearly it is stated on Goodreads what type book this is. I was not privy to that from the ad I saw when I downloaded this free book. I can see that being bad in certain hands. Like many others, I was compelled by the cover image. M/M is not my thing, but I have an open mind. So, I sort of stumbled into something with this one, but I read it, out of respect for the work the author put into it. I appreciate art in just about any form. So what if it's not my lifestyle? It's still art, and I appreciate it.

As for the story:
I didn't care for the use of the word "fuck" to create a "tough guy" attitude for the MC. It didn't make me respect him as being "tough," as much as short in the vocabulary department. Other than that, there was a scene when he was being converted that seemed unnecessary to me. But, maybe that's a part I wouldn't appreciate, being that it's out of my realm. I don't feel the author did too horribly bad with the other parts of that scene. (Again, straight looking in.)I felt there was a lot of unnecessary wording that distracted me. I found myself thinking, "Yes, of course..." quite a bit. If the head vampire is supposed to be cold and cruel, why does he take such a "My First Day of Preschool" type approach to explain everything to his supposed detested victim? He seems too kind for me to believe he's mean and nasty. But, I was intrigued enough to be annoyed that I was already at the end. I wasn't intrigued enough to get the next one, however.

From an author point of view, I could see this story appealing to many others. I'm being fair in admitting this isn't my usual genre. I can't say that the story line moved me enough to follow this series. I feel it may be different for people with an appreciation for M/M erotica. I didn't feel moved by any particular point other than to find the main character annoying. Maybe that's the author's intent. If so, well done! I feel the writing style was easy to read. I felt I could visualize what he was describing, for the most part. The story moved along. As an author, I'm learning from others how exhausting the "naive" or "innocently dumb" characters have become. I'm so tired of reading one character explaining to another why they're treating their bodies in this sexual manner or that. So, I took something away from this story for my own work. But, overall, I gave this book 3 stars because, even though it wasn't my genre, I was drawn into the story. I did read the entire work. I appreciate the author offering this as a sample. And, I took enough away that I do remember the story line, the characters (though the names have left me, sorry), and it did flow with only a few hiccups. I think the author has a talent and needs to continue to write. I have a feeling his name will be one that has potential to be a well known with just a little attention to some very minor details. This wasn't a painful experience for me (I've read worse, for sure). But, if anyone needs me, I'll be back in my side of the fence.
