This is a tale of a knight named Froda who becomes enamoured of a Danish queen, Auslaga, after reading her biography in a beautiful illuminated book. His passion becomes so strong that he draws her spirit forth from the shades as a princess to guide and protect him in his knightly adventures. When he is about to marry the princess and live happily ever after, she appears to him in her true form and takes his soul with her back to the abode of the dead.
