I thoroughly enjoyed parts of the book, but founds other parts took away from the enjoyment, which were really hard to ignore.
I loved that the main character was an intelligent woman and not wilting flower who ran her own business and made her own fortune. She wanted to stay single and not rely on a man (and therefore share her money). So, of course, along comes a handsome Earl who needs money. A merry chase and many mix-ups follow.

I feel that if the author had put just a bit more care and effort into her research and work, this really could have been a good book. It is really frustrating as a reader to read a book that has glaring errors in it, such as using the term "Your Grace" when addressing an Earl, or continuity errors that should have been caught by a proofreader such as during scenes when she is standing over his bed during their kiss, which should be a momentous occasion, and all of a sudden, he is reaching down to her! Hello! He's injured and drugged! Duh!

And then we have the glaring issue of the premarital sex. Oh yes. Our midwife spinster, who should know all about how babies are made, has taken leave of her senses and starts breeding like a rabbit with Mr. Earl and repeatedly refuses to marry him. lol.

Hopefully this author will put more effort into her next book. ( )
