As Peary mentions in his introduction there are many ways for a movie to become a cult classic. The films included in this collection run the gamut from ones with which almost everyone is familiar, such as Taxi Driver or Laura, to the lesser known, such as The Great Texas Dynamite Chase or High School Confidential!. This will likely give most readers some additions to their to-view lists.

Each of the movies are presented through a synopsis, any historical context to help appreciate its place in history as well as any background related to the various aspects of production. This last aspect includes everything from perhaps the original novelist's opinion about the film adaptation to any controversy or interesting elements concerning actors, directors and studios. While for a general audience there is also attention given to the placement of a film within film history as well as the broader history as mentioned above.

This is a wonderful addition for anyone with an interest in cult films, crime films as well as film history and includes several photos for each entry.
