It is October. Sid Georgia, Madison are helping Deborah w/ McQuaid College's annual McHades Mansion Haunted House...

The college puts on the haunted house in conjunction with the McQuaid Quintent, 5 cousins that comply with the terms of the McQuaid will: Make use of the mansion, which was once the McQuaid Art School/Foundation or lose it to the heir, a missing uncle. The proceeds of the haunted house go to a McQuaid scholarship fund.

Sometime during the night, the body of a young woman (Kendall) is found in the haunted house having been bludgeoned to death... she was there w/ three other friends and Kendall was supposed to meet up with Linda, an old school acquaintance who was working inside the haunted mansion.

It turns out that Kendall was a part of a secret Facebook group (made up of herself & the three friends she was with) that would harass and bully random people as part of a game. Each instance of bullying would earn points. Kendall was well in the lead.... having literally harassed some young woman to commit suicide.

As Sid continues his internet search, he finds out that Kendall recently joined a 12-Step program and was in the process of making amends to those she harassed; one being Linda and another being Madison.

Madison, ignored the harassment and never let it bother her.... Linda on the other hand had agreed to secretly meet Kendall.... When the bloodied gloves from the crime turn up in Linda's dorm room, she is arrested for the murder of Kendall.....

Meanwhile, Georgia's parents have returned home early from their sabbatical, Deborah is having to decide between the local cop & McQuaid College head of security, and Georgia has begun dating "Brownie" another adjunct professor/carnival worker, who turns out to be the son of the missing heir.... and so it goes on.

Light, entertaining, and full of very interesting information about cyber-bullying.... ( )

Great fun. Writer Leigh Perry (aka Toni L.P. Kelner) makes us forget that a walking, talking, thinking, seeing, hearing, talking collection of bones, can not be possible. Instead one falls in love with Sid and with three generations of the Thackery including adjunct professor Georgia, her teen daughter and her English professor parents. So well written and with a great mystery featuring death at a Halloween Haunted house on the College Campus and the family after whom the college is named and who are most protective...or are they trying to get the land they gave returned to them? The Skeleton Haunts a House by Leigh Perry is the third book in A Family Skeleton Mystery series. Dr. Georgia Thackery is dressing up as Thelma for Halloween Howl at McQuaid University in Pennycross, Massachusetts. Sid wishes to go as Scooby Doo this year (he wanted to do something different this year). Who is Sid? It is their skeleton person (not sure how else to describe him). He is a skeleton with a great personality. Sid came to life about twenty years ago at Fenton’s Family Festival when Georgia was a little girl and needed help. Sid has been with the family ever since. Everyone accepts him except Deborah. Deborah is Georgia’s sister and she tends to ignore happy go lucky Sid. Halloween is the one time of the year that Sid can go out in public without too many issues (and he is so excited).

An old building on campus has been turned into McHades Hall. Deborah (the sister) is in charge of the event and Madison, Georgia’s daughter, is working the event. Madison reserved special tickets for Sid and Georgia (she did not know that Georgia does not do haunted houses). Unfortunately, a dead body is discovered while Sid is inside and the place is locked down. Sid quickly ditches the Scooby Doo outfit and blends in (thankfully there are “fake” skeletons in the haunted house). Deborah actually asks Georgia and Sid to investigate the case (the whole family is shocked). They will have an inside track thanks to Sid being stuck in the McHades Hall (he can eavesdrop) while the police did the initial investigation. Sid works his fingers to the bone on this case using his crackerjack computer skills to look into the victim, Kendall Fitzroy.

Georgia’s parents, Dr. and Dr. Thackery are back home from their sabbatical. Georgia’s mother has a grad student with a crisis (they are both English professors at McQuaid University). There is also the possibility of a little romance as Georgia meets and spends time with the new adjunct professor Dr. Brownlow Mannix. Sid is also very busy. When he is not sleuthing (he is Sherlock Bones to Georgia’s Dr. Watson), he is taking an online art history class (he has a lot of time on his hands since he does not sleep).

The Skeleton Haunts a House was a fabulous book! I do not say this that often, but I really enjoyed (loved) reading the latest addition to A Family Skeleton Mystery series. The characters are a riot. Georgia’s parents (especially her father) just added to the hijinks. I enjoyed reading the description of McHades Hall with all its scary rooms (I do not blame Georgia for not wanting to go inside). Pennycross, Massachusetts sounds like it is a typical collegiate town (can you just imagine New England in the fall). The Skeleton Haunts a House had delightful characters and a masterly mystery. The author did a superb job. She really had me doubting whether I had picked the right killer (I had picked the right one). I give The Skeleton Haunts a House 5 out of 5 bones (I could not resist).

I received a complimentary copy of The Skeleton Haunts a House from NetGalley (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest review. ( )

The Skeleton Haunts A House is the third book in the A Family Skeleton Mystery series

Another humorous mystery from Leigh Perry. No bones about it, but Sid the Skeleton continues to get some great lines.

It's late October and everyone is getting ready to celebrate Halloween. On the McQuaid campus the old McQuaid mansion has once again been turned into McHades for the annual haunted house. To abide by the terms dictated by the McQuaid family, the mansion remains part of the campus as long as it is in use. Georgia's sister, Deborah, is in charge of this years haunted house and Madison, Georgia's daughter is one of many local students who are staffing the haunted house. Sid finally talks Georgia into getting costumes for them so that Sid can see what it is all about. He is going as Scooby -Doo and Georgia as Velma. But the fun times are interrupted when someone trips over the dead body of Kendall Fizroy, who was there with three of her former high school friends. Before Sid can leave the mansion, the police arrive and no one is allowed to leave. Sid has to abandon his costume, as there is no way Georgia will be able to explain Sid the Skeleton, but the police find the empty costume and are set to ask her where the person that was wearing it is, her father, Phil, who's been on sabbatical with his wife, give the police a far-fetched story that he had worn it.

Sid loves a good mystery to solve, and since Deborah was in charge of the event, Sid and Georgia want to find the murderer and restore Deborah good name.

Most all the characters from the previous two books are back once again. There are a couple new characters, too. Georgia's parents are back from their sabbatical. Also new to the series is Dr, Brownlow Mannix, another adjunct professor of English and the son of the owner of the carnival where Sid came from.

Just maybe, there might be a romantic interest for Georgia, too.

I had my doubts about the premise of this series when it began, but it didn't take me long to love this series. Wonderful characters and Sid is so funny.

Definitely will be watching for the next book in the series. ( )

Wow, I haven't read a book in a while that I have laughed so hard while reading.i couldn't put it down! The author has done an incredible job with the one liners between Sid and Georgia. Even Deborah gets in on the action. This book is the first in the series that I have read. I will be reading the rest because this one was suburb. Between the plot, characters, and humor this author can do no wrong in my opinion.
Georgia is an Adjunct Professor at McQuaid University who's best friend is Sid who just happens to be a 20 year old skeleton. Yes, I did say skeleton. They have been on a few adventures together solving murder mysteries. But this Halloween Georgia was hoping to just get dressed up and be an ordinary holiday. That did not happen, she and Sid went to her sisters haunted house dressed as Scooby and Velma to have fun and it became a nightmare. Georgia and Sid end up smack dab in another murder mystery. And this time it just so happens it is on the campus that she and her parents who are back from sabbatical work on. Will they be able to figure out this mystery before someone else gets hurt? Will Deborah's haunted house be shut down before it even gets off the ground? And will they get the right person?
There are so many twists and turns, ups and downs during this book you will not want to put it down till the last page is read.
If you want a fun mystery filled with adventure and a little romance sprinkled in you need to read The Skeleton Haunts a House.
I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. ( )

Sid the Skeleton bones up on clues to solve a Haunted House homicide in this mystery from the author of The Skeleton Takes a Bow

What holiday could bring more warmth to a skeleton’s chest cavity than Halloween? And when you’re a living skeleton who’s not supposed to be seen outside the house, it’s a welcome chance to get some fresh air and rub bony elbows with people. That’s why Sid doesn’t mind wearing a full-body dog suit and going as Scooby-Doo along with Georgia Thackery’s Velma to the Halloween Howl.

Sid can’t wait to go through the Haunted House—but he gets rattled for real when a genuine dead body is discovered. Trapped inside as the police quickly seal off the crime scene, Sid makes no bones about dropping the dog suit and posing as an actual skeleton. This murder is a skull-scratcher, but as long as Sid is on the inside, he might as well case the joint to figure out who used the cover of darkness to commit the perfect crime…
