A great story about a hamster who was born a princess. She hates being a princess and wants to be free to do what she wants. A spell is put on her which makes her invincible until she is twelve years old. She goes out on many adventures and the king and queen worry about her, but she comes back safe. She goes back to the castle ready fo be put to sleep by the spell. However, something goes wrong and the whold down goes to sleep. Harriet must save the town even though she is not invincible anymore, she comes through.

Fun! Harriet is very logical, by her lights...which are of a pre-teen princess (of an unconventional type, and I don't mean being a hamster). Several neat twists on the Sleeping Beauty story. I expected him to have to kiss Harriet, too - she was in the castle, after all, though not asleep. But the actual solution was much better than that. I was a little surprised at her difficulty with the Ogrecat - she'd already managed saving helpless dragons from terrible maidens, she should be used to monsters that aren't, quite. Very quick to read - heavily illustrated, with the illustrations actually part of the story (as in, the words as well as the images in the illustrations are not repeated in the text). It was a fun read, and I want to read the rest of the series. ( )

Harriet is not your typical Disney Princess. She has a curse placed on her that says she will die when she is twelve years old. Harriet sees this as it makes her invincible until she is twelve. She goes out and adventures. Only as her 12th birthday approaches does she return home and then must confront the rat that placed the curse on her.
This graphic novel's brash character will be motivating for many students. The fact that she is not the stereotypical princess will also capture many student attention. This book could be used to come up with stories involving curses and heroes overcoming the curse.

Sleeping Beauty gets a feisty, furry twist in this hilarious new comic series from the creator of Dragonbreath

Harriet Hamsterbone is not your typical princess. She may be quite stunning in the rodent realm (you'll have to trust her on this one), but she is not so great at trailing around the palace looking ethereal or sighing a lot. She finds the royal life rather . . . dull. One day, though, Harriet's parents tell her of the curse that a rat placed on her at birth, dooming her to prick her finger on a hamster wheel when she's twelve and fall into a deep sleep. For Harriet, this is most wonderful news: It means she's invincible until she's twelve! After all, no good curse goes to waste. And so begins a grand life of adventure with her trusty riding quail, Mumfrey...until her twelfth birthday arrives and the curse manifests in a most unexpected way.

Perfect for fans of Babymouse and Chris Colfer's Land of Stories, this laugh-out-loud new comic hybrid series will turn everything you thought you knew about princesses on its head.
