In Norway, present and WWII, with The Redbreast. Off to Norway with The Redbreast. ... interesting) and Garnethill by Denise Mina which I really enjoyed and will continue with the series. Currently reading The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo which so far is a real page turner that I am loving. I am in Oslo, Norway in the late 90's (and on the Eastern Front in the mid 40's) in The Redbreast. I picked up Nesbo's The Redbreast from a clearance shelf without knowing anything about it. Now I'm eager to read it! ... books set in Asia (I won't repeat my previous post) I have been waiting (im)patiently for the next English translation in Jo Nesbo's series set in Oslo. These have been released in a non-linear sequence which I found slightly bewildering at the time. But I rush to add that it never detracted ... ... and naturally we stopped by the bookstore. I've read, in English (because that's all I can read besides a smattering of Spanish), The Redbreast, Nemesis, and The Devil's Star.
I've also read the late Stieg Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which I really enjoyed, and I just finished ... ... version of Het dwaallicht. Reading #6 Jazzhelden, interviews by Koen Schouten for my music category and started with De roodborst by Jo Nesbø for my Scandinavian thrillers category. ... Saviano--an LT early reviewers copy so I'll probably get to it pretty soon.

I love Andrea Camilleri too, and at least 7 or 8 of them have been translated to English by the excellent Stephen Sartarelli ... ... complex relationships were very cleanly presented, without any telling needed.
Right now I am reading the 3. book in the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbø. Probably the first crime novel I've read by a Norwegian writer. I'm only halfway through, but Rødhals seems like a very good book so ... ... the second book, Dead at Daybreak, is the best of the three; they're all worthy of a read, though.
Now, I just read The Redbreast and The Devil's Star, both by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo, and I am greatly impressed. I'll let the Washington Post* tell you about The Redbreast here: ... There's a book called The Redbreast that will be published this December. It's a mystery set in Norway, partly during WWII and partly in the last years of the twentieth century. The Norwegian edition has already won awards.
