I'm sure this was fascinating at the time it was written - a discription of other lands which most people would never visit. To a modern audience the writing is stilted (in this land this happens and I will describe it now: followed by a somewhat prejudiced (due to culture) description) and repetitive. The style and condescending tone really age this book. Definitely does not hold up well
