Mary Plain in Town

First published in 1935. This book begins at the bear pits in Berne, where Mary has returned after her 5 day visit to England. Several chapters in, she decides to go to England to visit her friend the Owl Man, and has even more surprising adventures. Those familiar with Paddington will discover a similar theme, a curious young bear immersed in English life, but these stories are older. Rather dated, but still funny, and the drawings are charming.
