I absolutely loved this book! Not only does this book help review the Abc’s, it allows you to learn the Abc’s in the Spanish language as well. This is a wonderful book to give to young children to become familiar with other languages and cultures. It can also connect with chidren because it contains characters from Sesame Street and provides many examples for each letter. Each page has flaps that readers can open to find other pictures as well as the English and Spanish names of that object or animal. For example, for the letter “F” underneath the flap contained a picture of a fence. It said “fence” and underneath it said “cerca.” Next to the letter “F,” there was a picture of a fox and a fire both with English and Spanish names next to them as well. Having a variety of pictures and examples gives children a lot to look at and multiple examples to look at too.
I loved the pictures and illustrations as well. There were so many things to look at on each page. This book could keep someone entertained for a long time. There were no blank spaces at all and there was so much color everywhere. Each page had a different theme and all of the pictures of the letters fit that theme as well. For example the pages that contained the letters K, L, M, N, and O were filled with objects you would find in a kitchen. Some of the objects shown were limes, magnets, noodles, a knife, a measuring cup, napkins, etc.
By reading this book, the big idea is to get young children acclimated and familiar with their Abc’s. The great thing is that the entire book has English and Spanish examples for all children to see and practice. ( )
