The Afro-Asian World: A Cultural Understanding has been written to strengthen learning and instructional programs in this course. It makes use of the widely approved culture-region organization. Organized in the eight acknowledged most frequently as the best division of the two continents: the Soviet Union, East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Moslem World, and Africa South of the Sahara. In the study of each culture region, the author has woven together the social studies disciples of geography, history, economics, political science, anthropology, and sociology to provide the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach so necessary to develop cultural understandings. Student comprehension is helped by carefully explaining new concepts on a reading level suitable for the majority of the students sub-headings are organized to serve as valuable outlines of the material being studied. Daily assignments, chapter and unit reviews, and unit "Key Ideas to Appreciate" reinforce class discussion and reading.
