Had this book on my 'get to reading this list' for a while. in 2105 while attending an annual alumni mass at St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, NY, ran into the author - also an alum. https://mielniczuk.wordpress.com/2015/03/09/st-francis-alumni-mass-2015/

Those, like me, who enjoy reading about the post-war Polish diaspora will love the details of growing up in Lackawanna and Buffalo. Deeper engagement comes from the author's frank struggle with bipolar disorder. Despite that he went on to a successful career and continues exploring the story of Buffalo - see https://buffalomind.com .

Yes, this is biased. It is also one of those rare personal experiences where the words on the pages, the context and the author are part of my life too. ( )
