Released on 26th April 2015, exactly three years after Cambodian environmental activist Chut Wutty was shot dead, this graphic novel tells the tale of the Hindu god Krisna (aka “Captain Cambodia”) and his nemesis, the demon-spirit “It”. After an explanatory foreword and a short prologue it's divided into three sections: the Khmer Empire, Civil War, and Peace, Stability and Development.
It's a graphic novel that can be read on several different levels: simply as a classic comic-book clash of good versus evil, but also as a critique of Cambodian politics. Doubtless Cambodians, or those that know the country well, will find a third level of understanding in certain references. ( )
