Drawing has always been something I’ve wanted to master, but could never quite figure out how to simplify the process. In Drawing with Charcoal For Beginners, my questions have been answered.

The authors of this book begin by showing the newbie artist how to draw spheres, cones, cubes and cylinders. They then demonstrate through step by step instructions just how to use these shapes to create pictures. There are oodles of illustrations in this book to help the new artist master each step.

The use of shading to make a picture life-like is well detailed. Drawing eyes and mouths have always been a mystery to me. Most facial features that I have ever drawn, all end up looking the same. John Davidson and Paolo Lopez de Leon have decoded that mystery for me.

If drawing portraits, animals and landscapes is something you aspire to do, then Drawing with Charcoal For Beginners is the book for you.

I found this book enlightening and would definitely recommend giving it a read.
