Perhaps it gets a bit silly, embarking on a LibraryThing project to calculate all the books I read cover to cover, then expanding it to include all books I use extensively in a reference, research (grad student that I be), or instructional capacity without reading cover to cover, then include in the latter category something like In Honour of Ilse Lehiste (aside: I LOVE the idea of festschriften, and that linguists love them too, and wonder whether there are any other disciplines that this is so, or whether it's a philologer inheritance). It is true: I only read the one article, and it was only five pages long. But it was tight and lovely, and I can imagine it being of use, and so into the 'Thing it goes, and while nobody should imagine my rating of the book to be based on consummate knowledge, is that ever really true of anything? Like, I'm about to re-finish and re-add Deleuze and Guattari's OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REST OF THIS REVIEW. ( ) no reviews | add a review
