“Arthur’s Chicken Pox” written by Marc Brown is a great story that children can easily relate. In this story, Arthur and his family were planning a trip to the circus; everyone, especially Arthur, was very excited. Arthur had to be checked-out of school one day, because he was not feeling well; his mother determined that he had the Chicken Pox. Arthur was very upset because he thought he was going to miss the circus, but his grandmother came and brought special treats for Arthur. Arthur ended up recovering from the Chicken Pox and was able to go to the circus; unfortunately, his sister caught the Chicken Pox and had to stay home. This is a great story to read to Kindergarten to Third grade students.

Arthur has the chicken pox and everyone around him is taking care of him. He gets the special treatment from his Grandma. Arthur's sister, D.W., gets jealous of Arthur's attention and tries to fake the chicken pox to get special treatment too. When D.W. gets caught she tries to rub it in to Arthur that she gets to go to the circus and he doesn't. But when it came to going to the circus everyone was ready including Arthur but D.W. is stuck with the chicken pox.
