Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0801664160, Hardcover)

This text presents an introduction to management and its application to physiotherapy. Each unit comprises several brief chapters that describe managerial concepts. Each unit is then followed by case studies/histories that apply and illustrate these concepts, thereby giving them specific relevance and meaning. The cases deliberately allow for diversity in outcomes and management styles. The four underlying principles of the text are that every manager brings individual talents and viewpoints to the role of manager and will evolve in this poisition at a different rate and in different directions than other managers due to individual styles, concepts and theories; that traditional management theories can help to understand organizational behaviours, and outcomes, but need to be augmented by other considerations; that these traditional management theories can be applied to physiotherapy and to action-oriented projects in particular; and that well thought-out case studies bring relevance and meaning to the concepts discussed in the text.
