Thank you to the author and goodreads for a free copy of How To Carry Bigfoot Home.

I like my short stories surreal and with a sucker punch of a twist. And wow, do these stories deliver that. I especially enjoyed "Here Be Dragons" and "The Instructions." Well-written, weird, and unexpectedly powerful.

I will say that not all of the stories worked for me. But hey -- it's a short story collection. Some of them I love, some of them I like, some of them I skim, and that's the way it should be. That's a sign of variety. That's what keeps in interesting. That's what makes finding the stories that do click with me so intense.

The ones that did click -- like "Here Be Dragons"? They're sticking with me. It's been a couple of weeks, and I can't get the characters and the concept out of my head.

And now, I'm going to keep an eye out for more of Chris Tarry's writing. ( )
