A lovely positive story that children, especially girls, will quickly relate to, Willa the Wolf Gets New Shoes invites young readers to see that they shouldn’t let other people’s words hurt their feelings. Willa loves her new shoes and so does everyone else until the mean girl (a swan) says they’re ugly. However, a wise teacher will offer good advice, and both girls will learn a lesson, ending up good friends.

My copy was marred by occasional typos (probably fixed by now) and a couple of errors in the illustrations that my inner “mean boy” pointed out. But this is a fun, wise little book and should make for enjoyable and helpful bedtime reading.

Disclosure: It was free so I bought it. ( )
