Thirty years have gone by since the Storm King was defeated, and Osten Ard has had comparative peace. But now things are stirring again...
Many familiar characters reappear, new ones are introduced. This time around, much of the action takes place inside Nakkiga and among two groups of Norns on different missions. The Norns seem to have changed in the process from the stoically unreadable, impassive people: some of them are much given to temper tantrums. Their society is also extremely hierarchical and tyrannic. And I'm unhappy with Morgan, yet another royal troubled teenager blundering around and being pig-headed. This is getting repetitive.
Still, there are lots of wonderful ideas and an intricate conspiracy going on. A successful continuation of the first trilogy. ( )
