Note: I was given this in exchange for an honest review and not affiliated with my work via The Review Board.

I do like that the author took a bit of time to give back story on the main characters: Cole and Renee. Yet by doing so, none of the pacing or action got lost in the shuffle. Cole did feel a bit stereotypical to me--in the sense that he keeps his feelings quite guarded due to what he went through with his upbringing and the heartache he experienced with his first love.

I related a lot to Renee in regards to the age difference and understood why she handled things the way she did with Cole back in the day. She tried to place herself in the mindset of a twenty year old at that time but Cole wasn't the typical twenty year old.

I liked the detail presented in the beginning of the book with the sexual escapade but wanted that same amount of description once Cole and Renee met. I found that part to be slightly rushed and would have loved a bit more relish considering their past history.

Kudos to the twist at the end. It gave interest to a story that was quite a bit predictable for me. I'm used to more elements of surprise so please note that statement is more for my own personal preference than any reflection on the writer's ability.

Overall, I grant this a 4 out of 5. Great balance of erotic heat, back story and pace. I wouldn't mind proceeding to the next part just to see how the twist plays out.
