Impulse grab from library display, cuz it looks cute. ?As it turns out, it's a sequel to one of ?ámy 'to-read' books. ?áWordless, and only the tiniest tots will feel proud they've 'spotted' W. and P. before the hapless zookeeper have done so. ?áBut they will giggle while doing so, and the ending is nifty, in context.

However, I'm troubled by the context. ?áI cannot abide zoos. ?áEspecially ones like the one illustrated here, which are all about the animals on display on tiny moated islands. ?áI cannot recommend sharing w/ children books that condone the idea of zoos.?á

I may or may not bother with the first book. ( )

Where’s Walrus? and Penguin?

Where’s Walrus? And Penguin? Created by Stephen Savage is a picture book but a wordless one at that which happens to take place at a zoo which are two main characters Walrus and Penguin escape from and go on an adventure throughout the city. Though both characters are having a great time they go to a baseball game which result's them both going to a trip to the hospital. In, my opinion what made this book pop out at me was the fact that even though this picture book was wordless its use of shapes representing objects, color making each page pop, and overall creative patterns throughout the entire picture book, I was able to understand perfectly well what was happen from beginning to end. WHERE’S WALRUS? AND PENGUIN? by Stephen Savage is a follow-up to the popular Where’s Walrus (2011) picture book.

This charming, wordless story takes zoo escapees Walrus and Penguin on an adventure through the city. All goes well until a baseball game and a trip to the hospital. Despite the accident, children will cheer the happy ending.

Using simple shapes, basic colors, and interesting patterns, Savage is able to effectively hide Walrus and Penguin in plain sight. The pair use fascinating disguises to avoid detection by the zookeeper. Children will enjoy finding the animals on each two-spread.

Librarians will find a huge audience for this adorable series. It’s the perfect chance to bring out the flannel board and retell the story with other animals.
