Mr. Postmouse's rounds take him to a variety of animal residences, and through a variety of climates, but our intrepid murine hero lets nothing stand in the way of delivering the letters and parcels entrusted to his care. Whether it be a delivery of nuts for Mr. Squirrel or a worrying package for the hens, Mr. Postmouse always comes through...

Originally published in French as La tournée de facteur souris, this delightful picture-book from French-Canadian author/illustrator Marianne Dubuc has a simple enough text, and wonderfully detailed illustrations. Quite a bit of the enjoyment offered by the book comes from perusing those illustrations, and observing the many different homes, with their diverse layouts and structures. There are plenty of humorous visual details - the fact that the packages delivered to the hens is clearly a fox in disguise, for instance - to keep the reader entertained and engaged. Recommended to anyone looking for fun picture-books featuring animals characters and/or postal deliveries. ( )

This book is wonderful! Mr. Postmouse loads up his wagon and his rounds begin. There's not too much text, but all the magic is in the illustrations, beautiful and full of details (and jokes) to discover. Each page is an amazing opportunity to take a look at the inside of different type of homes, burrows, some under the ground, on trees, or underwater, on the top of the hill, inside the hive and the anthill, and many more.

Dubuc is certainly a skillful illustrator. It's evident in each picture all the care and thought that was put there. All and every page is worth a good few minutes to enjoy, look, laugh, comment and touch it. It's not a book to read alone, but to share.

I highly recommend you to follow Mr. Postmouse in his rounds!

MR. POSTMOUSE’S ROUNDS by Marianne Dubuc is the charming story of a mouse postman who delivers mail to a variety of interesting creatures.

This adorable picture book takes readers from house to house as Mr. Postmouse makes his rounds. Each creature’s living space is displayed as a cross-section. Children will be delighted by the funny situations and fascinating variety of habitats.

Dubuc’s amazing illustrations will appeal to readers of all ages. The many tiny details found in each drawing will encourage re-reading and provide lots of opportunities for I-spy games.

Librarians will enjoy exploring each page with children. Pair this book with nonfiction works showing cross-sections. Or, seek out other picture books that explore life below ground or animal homes. Teachers will discover endless ideas for writing activities such as selecting a house from the book and writing about a day in the life of the creature that lives there.

A delightful picture book that follows a mouse postal worker through the animal kingdom to deliver packages. From Mr. Mole's underground warren of rooms to birds' nests to ... oh, whew, the chance to skip a delivery to Mr. Snake ... there are plenty of details in the illustrations to cause children to linger and discuss. Fans of The Jolly Postman will find this an appealing read-alike (and not just because Goldilocks makes a guest appearance in a certain Mr. Bear's house!). Highly recommended.
