(Cul-de-sac, Gb 1966, b/n, 111') Roman Polanski. Con Donald Pleasence, Françoise Dorleac, Lionel Stander,Jack MacGowran, Iain Quarrier,Jackie Jacqueline Bisset.
Due gangster scalcinati - uno sbruffone (Stander) e l'altro melanconico (MacGowran) - si rifugiano in un castello che la marea isola da terra, dove vive una coppia male assortita: lui (Pleasence) è impotente, nevrotico e ridicolo, lei (Dorleac) giovane e un po' matta. Le tensioni esplodono e la commedia diventa gioco al massacro. Sceneggiata assieme a Gérard Brach, uno dei film più riusciti di Polanski, che fonde perfettamente la sua vena crudele con quella grottesca e surreale (debitrice, in questo caso, del teatro di Samuel Beckett). Stander, Pleasence e la sfortunata Dorleac non hanno mai recitato tanto bene anche se sul set non si potevano soffrire. Orso d'oro al festival di Berlino. Particina d'esordio per la Bisset, allora protetta del regista. ( )
