More careful thinking, cool calculation and quick action by Jack Reacher. But he can't save everyone. ( )

Another terrific book in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. Reacher helps take down a Syrian terrorist group with the FBI. An excellent read. ( )

My first Lee Child book. Definitely a page-turner. I want to look into the author's background to see where he could got all the knowledge and lore in this book. The final sequence could easily become a "Call of Duty"-style video game. ( )

Not my favourite Jack Reacher novel. Lots of FBI, CIA, terrorism, counter terrorism, etc. A bit longer and more repetitive than it needed to be. Still found it hard to put down. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0440246318, Mass Market Paperback)

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“The indomitable Reacher burns up the pages.”—USA Today

Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, another telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And a hitchhiker with a broken nose. An hour behind them, the FBI descends on an old pumping station where a man was stabbed to death—the knife work professional, the killers nowhere to be seen.

All Jack Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy, in which nothing is what it seems, and nobody is telling the truth.

“Furious action . . . [Lee] Child keeps the pacing swift and the surprises rolling. . . . [A] feverishly thrilling series.”—The Miami Herald

“Smart, breathless . . . [with] one of the best female characters in the whole Reacher series.”—The New York Times

“Subtle and nuanced [with] seductive writing and irresistible plot twists.”—Newsweek

Don’t miss Lee Child’s short story “Deep Down” and a sneak peek of his new novel, Never Go Back, in the back of the book.

Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don't add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia. An hour behind them, a man lies stabbed to death in an old pumping station. He was seen going in with two others, but he never came out. He has been executed, the knife work professional, the killers vanished. Within minutes, the police are notified. Within hours, the FBI descends, laying claim to the victim without ever saying who he was or why he was there. All Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy that makes him a threat to both sides at once.… (more)
