akeela - I also enjoyed the Satrapi graphic novels, so recently picked up another of hers Chicken with Plums, which was unfortunately not nearly as effective.

Well, this is a quick one.
It's a very interesting story, mostly about lost love. I think Marjane made up a lot of it, even though it's about a real person in her family. I couldn't tell you how this compares to Persepolis, since I have yet to ... ... March 1st to see what else the library had by her - I see that there's Embroideries and another graphic novel called Chicken with Plums .
I do want to put these on my TBR. I'd like to say I'm suprised that your novel made it in and out of Tehran, but then again after reading her ... ... and making her own clothing - whew! There are lots of tips and tricks as well as a good reference section.
#9 - Chicken With Plums by Marjane Satrapi, 84 pages (library). Another graphic novel, this was about Satrapi's uncle and the story of his death.

I totally agree with you on Satrapi's other works. I loved Persepolis and its follow up book but Chicken with plums was less than compelling for me. I liked it but I was not impressed. Not sure where I am going next yet. I think I may go back to Iran with Marjane Satrapi and read Chicken with Plums, since that's the only one of her graphic novels I haven't gotten to yet. Then I might settle in for the long haul with one of my big tomes for the year ... Chicken with Plums is the one I was thinking of. Thanks, SqueakyChu! ... other books, one of which is a children's book. I haven't read either of those, though. For sure I'd get the adult one, Chicken with Plums, if I came across it in my searches of used bookstores. Maybe even the children's book, Monsters are Afraid of the Moon.
