Well, blimey! I can honestly say that Dark Love was a fun read. Weird, but fun. It's the first time I've read anything by Stephen del Mar and though I wasn't sure what to expect I was very pleasantly surprised. It's an urban fantasy romance with witches, faeries and a.... No, I mustn't spoil it - except to say the characters were well drawn. Full marks for the world-building, too. Bennett Bay is a well imagined setting.

If you enjoy well written M/M fantasy fiction, then Dark Love is a book you should read. I gather that they'll be at least one more novel following on from Dark Love, and personally I can't wait. That's not to say that it couldn't have been better. It could - but then it is del Mar's first full length novel, and as a reader it's always great to discover a new author you like. ( )
