I prefer the title of the original book "Deceived on Purpose" as I think it highlights the Biblical suggestion that there are those who are deliberately self-deceived or who choose to ignore/reject the truth for so long that their consciences become seared and they can no longer be objective.

This is a useful book that speaks to the heart of the dangers of the New Age movement and its connection with some big players in evangelicalism including the "Purpose Driven" material and the best selling book "The Shack." The author clearly demonstrates the link between "New Ageism" and a lot of the people and materials that are extremely popular in current Christian circles.

If you are not already aware of these issues, you will be shocked by the roots of some of these things that may seem harmless enough but are clearly not when examined in detail. The enemy is very active and works within the church as well as outside it.

This book is a wake up call to Christians to exercise far greater discernment in their Christian walk and to really study the Bible for themselves to ensure they are not being swept along with the rest of the crowd sadly heading along the comfortable "broad way that leads to destruction."

Why is this issue important? Because so many are being deceived, it cannot just be ignored because it is divisive.

Recommended for those who care about spiritual discernment. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 097634923X, Paperback)

Five years after writing Deceived on Purpose: The New Age Implications of the Purpose-Driven Church, former New Age follower Warren B. Smith continues to reveal how Rick Warren and other Christian leaders-wittingly or unwittingly-are leading the church into a spiritual trap. A "Wonderful" Deception examines church metaphors, concepts, and beliefs that are essentially the same as those being used in today's New Age teachings. And while biblical prophecy is being minimized and explained away, the "New Science" is being used to prepare the world-and the church-to accept a new spirituality and a false New Age Christ. This book explains how all the puzzle pieces are in place for the "strong delusion" described in 2 Thessalonians. A "Wonderful" Deception pierces right into the heart of this deception while preparing believers in Jesus Christ to effectively stand against it.
