This picture book is great option for young readers, both as an independent reading book or as an interactive read-aloud. The sentences throughout the book rhyme, which makes reading fun and learning new words easier. The story of Crick-Ette is also a good way to teach kids about finding their own strengths and not trying to do what everyone else is doing. This lesson is taught through the Crick-Ette's journey of discovering her talents in music, although not in singing.
