The first book in the Night World series. One of the earliest teen books in the vampire genre, this book was published in 1996, I was in middle school at the time. I loved this book and the rest of the series. However, unlike most books I never reread ... ... and Circus of the Darned.

I never read this series when I was younger, focusing instead on The Forbidden Game and the first books of The Vampire Diaries and Dark Visions.
Having just picked it up now, in collection format, the only thing that comes to mind after having read ... ... Night World omnibus in yesterday. It's so weird to actually be reading something of LJ's I had never read before. Loving Secret Vampire. Trying to actually take my time so I can absorb it all.

I'm so sorry for ... ... by Rachel Caine, Glass Houses is the first of that series. Also, Blue Bloods, The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, Secret Vampire and The Silver Kiss are also all good YA vampire stories. I also enjoyed Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith but I think her books are out of print. I was able to get Secret Vampire from the library.
My favorite vamp books that I would totally recommend are:
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Absolutely loved this book.
Blue Bloods by Melissa ... Hi Demonlover!
If you liked Secret Vampire, check out The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, and the Forbidden Game. They're series that she did back in the early 90s.

and I'll let you guess what the Vampire Diaries are ... The book I've liked best so far in 2007 is a toss up between Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs and Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith. I really enjoyed both stories. I just can't get away from my vampire infatuation. Yesterday I read Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith, I love her writing! I didn't want to put the book down or have it end.
Today I started Golden by Cameron Dokey. It is a re-telling of the Rapunzel fairy tale which I think was suggested on this group. Pretty good so far. I finished Goddess by Mistake and plowed through the YA book Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith today. Good thing it was a relatively short book or I'd have never gotten to sleep tonight. Although Secret Vampire isn't classified as a romance it was very romantic. It reminded me a bit of Twilight. Fifth book - Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith

Smith's Secret Vampire series. I read her Vampire Diaries series years ago and remember enjoying them. ... to get through are Wolfcry, Stolen, Golden (touchstone not working), Circus of the Darned, Goddess by Mistake and Secret Vampire.

Alan Furst -- The World at Night (the most noir-ish of his novels that I've yet read, and it seems to be a nod to Melville's 1969 film Army of Shadows)
Ian Fleming -- ... ... was my introduction to vampires, and probably my first fannish obsession even before I discovered Buffy, L.J. Smith's Night World books.
On a different note, has anyone here read Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy? It's definitely one I want to acquire.
My lj name, btw, is ... ... werewolves, shapechangers, etc.) and they're very well written. My favorites of the series would probably be the first one, Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, and The Chosen. Her Vampire Diaries books are also good.
