Ben Stone is a loner. After his brother's death he took over his company, but hasn't made himself many friends as the new CEO, when he moved all the other directors to new offices. Now he and his secretary are the only ones left on his floor. Amongst his employees he's known as cold and demanding.
He has his reasons why he prefers solitude, he carries a secret, he's a shifter and his second nature is being a fierce alpha wolf.
One evening on his way home after work, his instincts lead him to the marketing department, where he finds a woman lying on the floor. Ashley Bell tries to fight off a migraine. Strangely, he feels immediately drawn to the attractive woman and offers her a ride home, which leads to Ashley landing a position as his personal assistant. The job and the closeness to Mr. Stone which comes with it, excite her as much as it scares her.
Things take a bad turn, when her twin sister is kidnapped and she is forced to help in a plot with the aim to destroy Ben's company. Ben notices that something is underfoot and believes Ashley has just used him, to gain access to secret data. He starts to follow her and eventually kidnaps her, to find out who is plotting against him.
Being now forced to spend so much time together, brings the two closer, than they ever expected, which leads to a new danger. Ben's desire to mark her as his mate becomes nearly unbearable, but as Ashley is a human, she could die during the marking.
Will Ben be able to restrain himself and who tries to destroy his company?

I read the book in one setting and loved Ben Stone as a character. He has partly South American roots and offers some nice hot flirting in Spanish, oh my! Ashley is his perfect counterpart. She knows, what she wants and isn't easily dominated by Ben.
The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot! I'm normally not the greatest fan of spanking, but found they suited the fierce and passionate Mr. Alpha Wolf quite well. There's also enough going on in the story to keep you hooked.
No cliffhanger here, but there exists a second book/novella with Ben and Ashley, The Alpha's Punishment, and to be honest, I hope there will be more Alpha books. ( )
