A good sequel to Dead Witch Walking. I missed Ivy within this book, I liked her as a character in the first book, and her diminished role in this one was unexpected. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. ( )

I liked this book more than the first one. The world is starting to shape up a bit more, and I am enjoying the characters more. I especially am intrigued by Kisten. He is a character you just can't figure out yet. Is he good... or is he bad... but in a good way I like the direction of Trent. I love Jenks. I felt Ivy was better in this book. I am beginning to understand her character more. Rachel wasn't as annoying in this book. Nick, however irritates me. I liked Captain Edden and Glenn. ( )

This unusually strong urban fantasy benefits from intricately detailed world-building and intriguing characters. Moments of wry humor lighten a chilling, tightly plotted mystery as Rachel draws closer to uncovering a brutal killer and in the process uncovers secrets in her past.

Superficially Rachel is a type found in many contemporary mysteries: a sexy, smart-mouthed heroine with an endearing tendency to shoot herself in the foot. With restrained character-driven scenes offset by moments of pulse-pounding action, Harrison is able to move Rachel somewhat beyond the stereotype.

The first in this series that I have read and I will probably read more, but I like Kitty and Mercy and their problems a bit better than Rachel.

Another solid installment in the series. Perfect reading for the beach or a lazy Sunday afternoon. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0060572973, Mass Market Paperback)

It's a tough life for witch Rachel Morgan, sexy, independent bounty hunter, prowling the darkest shadows of downtown Cincinnati for criminal creatures of the night.

She can handle the leather-clad vamps and even tangle with a cunning demon or two. But a serial killer who feeds on the experts in the most dangerous kind of black magic is definitely pressing the limits.

Confronting an ancient, implacable evil is more than just child's play -- and this time, Rachel will be lucky to escape with her very soul.
