#24 The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft The book was recommended to me by someone who found out I liked to read the horror genre but had never read Lovecraft. I hated almost every word of it...I have been more entertained reading the nutrition facts for water. Lovec ...

Finally sat down and finished The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by Howard Phillips Lovecraft... now I started The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett on the other side of reading, there's Philosophy of Truth, this week I'll have to read some chapters from Approaches to Lang ...

After I was done with Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, I thought it's about time I go into The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

I'm reading The Eyre Affair and The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories. It's a pretty strange jump between the two, but both books are fascinating so far.

If you like horror stuff... Have you tried H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories or Stephen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes?

I can't go past The Call of Cthulhu. Apart from its other merits, a small part of the story is set in Dunedin, New Zealand, where I lived for 17 years.

... In Hell You Evil Evil Waste of Dead Tree book: Eragon Best of the Bad (Super Rich Fondue Dip Guilty Pleasure Award): The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft

I agree, it's hard to pick just one. Dunwich Horror for atmosphere. Shadow Out of Time for creativity. Call of Cthulhu was his best crafted and executed. I wish Dunsany and Lovecraft had gotten together and melded their worlds into one. I wish Lovecraft had written more Dreamlands stories ...

Too funny! And a weird coincidence: I just read The Call of Cthulhu early this morning. Or was it a dream? ;)

I'm reading H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, sure Lovecraft was a racist who couldn't get a job in New York, so he blamed it on the migrants, but that would miss the point of his work. This New England redneck could write a Horror story like nobody else, and it's ...

Still reading H.P. Lovecraft and Alan Moore, I have The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, which has his most famous story, The Call of Cthulhu, and some other gems as well, like the Explanatory notes for each story by S.T. Joshi. DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore is still very good. ...

... But I'm also going to mention the Cenobites from Barker's The Hellbound Heart, the high priest Cthulhu from Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu and the same author's shoggoths from At the Mountains of Madness, the Shrike from Dan Simmons' Hyperion and the alien in John Campbell's Who Goes Th ...

To the aforementioned, I would add The Call of Cthulhu and The Colour Out of Space. The short story "The Outsider" is one of my favorites from his early Poe phase.
