I suppose I'd be happier if the book were an unbiased look at al the Uilleann pipe players, and not partly a memoir about John McSherry. It's my fault, I suppose, that I'd never heard about him prior to a Facebook ad came up--a sponsored ad. He's an amazing player, turns out, but I only knew of Paddy Keenan, Liam O'Flynn and Paddy Maloney of the current players. But I think once I delve further into the book, whose "as told to" author seems very competent, I'll shed this view. As i discover McSherry and his sister, as I learn about his deep involvement. So glad such a book now exists.
