First edition - Published in trade paperback format and a small number of hard bound library copies. In twenty-five years of federal parliamentary life, as MP, Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam spoke of the Constitution on many occasions. This is a record of those years. A collection of speeches, lectures and press statements from 1957 to 1976. The book was first released with the front cover of the dustjacket and paperback displaying elements of the portrait of ‘Gough Whitlam’ by Clifton Pugh, reproduced by courtesy of the Historic Memorials Committee, Canberra. However the Committee and Parliament had not bought copyrights from the artist who, despite pleas from Whitlam, demanded his work be removed from the book and damages paid by the publisher. This was done and at great expence, new dustjackets were produced for hard backs a d the old cover stripped from all paperbacks and replaced with a newly printed cover featuring an official black and white photograph supplied by the author. no reviews | add a review
