The book is a collection of short stories beginning with Desoto's visit to Manataka, Tula, or Hot Springs Arkansas in 1541 and culminates at the Trail of Tears. Most of the book focus's on the important figures such a Sequoyah, John Ross, Davey Crockett, Sam Houston, Pushmataha, Red Bird, and Tsali and the years proceeding the Indian Removal Act.

A very interesting book and an educational and informative read. ( )
