I really need to stop reading book series out of order, because I think I would have gotten a lot more our of this one if I had. That said, this book is fast paced and very compelling. I found the story interesting, and was pleasantly surprised by some parts and disappointed in others. ( )

DISGUSTING. UTTERLY APPALING AND HORRIBLE CONCLUSION TO THE SERIES. I hate you, Sally Green. I had high hopes for you, but you disappointed me. You just had to be like every other dumbass writer out there, didn't you?

Your series...is complete garbage. Yeah, it's great at first, but as it goes on...the last one was VERY lackluster and uncreative. You did the same basic ass thing every goddamn stupid author does. You are no different. First of all, your writing was horrible. Not good details. I also hate HATE the fact that that dumb bitch Annalise of all people gets a happy fucking ending, but Nathan can't? YOUR READERS DESERVED BETTER. NATHAN AND GABRIEL DESERVED BETTER. I understand that not everything can have a good ending, but did you have to make it utter shit? It felt half done-pun not intended-and half fucking assed and too easy. You took the easy way out, and instead of writing something halfway decent, you did that dumb shit.

I hope you see this review. I want you to know how much I despise you for this ending. I loved Gabriel, and what did you do? You destroyed him, one of your only decent fucking characters, not to mention the other good characters that died.

I regret wasting my money and time on such a garbage series. Mark my words, I will NEVER lay a hand on another piece of your work ever again because that'll probably be trash too.

This was an amazing end to the trilogy, and it was deep and heartfelt and left me shook at the end. This has to be one of the most impactful series I've ever read, and one of my favourites now, though I don't think my heart could handle ever re-reading it. Would definitely recommend. ( )

Good lord I have a headache just thinking about this book right now. "Half Bad" had such great promise, and I absolutely adored "Half Truths." And then "Half Wild" and "Half Lost" happened and....



I certainly did not expect the book to totally belly flop when I expected a perfect or near perfect dive.

I don't know if this is an overall problem with young adult books right now or what. It just feels like everyone is getting pushed to put out a series or trilogy. Heck if the first book is great/good then use I am always happy to see the characters again and again. But I realize that Ms. Green put out a book or novella every couple of months I think since "Half Bad" first came out, and I think that may have been too much going on. Cause the second and third book still have world building problems galore, lack of dialogue, an unsympathetic lead, not that interesting secondary leads/romantic interests, a BS deus ex machina, and the worst ending I can seriously think of for this book.

Taking place days after the ending of "Half Wild" we have half black/white witch Nathan out for revenge against his former girlfriend (Annalise) who he is certain betrayed him. Nathan is still pretty much a psychopath and doesn't sit back and ever think that perhaps based on what occurred that maybe, just maybe Annalise has her side of the story, that he can maybe listen to before just killing her dead. It doesn't help that Nathan has pretty much hand waved away his father's Marcus's crimes that he did, and somehow has him as one of the good guys.

A good 90 percent of this book is someone sitting around trying to calm Nathan down from whatever rage he has worked himself into. If it's not Gabriel, it's Nathan's brother Arran, his former captor now trainer Celia, etc. I just wanted someone to smack him one really hard and tell him to get over himself. Like a thousand times.

Since this book is told almost entirely from Nathan's POV, we don't even get a chance to focus on other characters instead of him and his whole I will find Annalise and kill her mentality.

I really can't say much about other characters because once again there is barely any dialogue in these books between characters. We have a lot of fight and training montages though. And also I hope you like reading about Nathan running, cause he does, a lot. To the point that he must have circled the Earth more times than Superman.

I know that some long time fans are going to be happy with the romantic direction this book took, but seriously, this was the most lackluster thing I have ever read. Since it's marketed towards young adults, I am sure that factored into things, but yeesh. It was up there with the sky is pretty, the sky is blue, sometimes the sky is blue and pretty for me. There was no emotion behind anything. I felt like Green was trying to sell us a romance that was never really solid to begin with. It didn't help that Nathan was still thinking about Annalise.

We get introduced to a whole new character and it was just pointless. Maybe if we actually had Nathan interacting with them at all besides the first couple of scenes and then we are back once again to training montages happening. We spent way too much time in this book for Nathan to track this person down and I seriously said "That's it?!, seriously?"

Gabriel barely feels present in this book, Celia reads the same to me and seems to be the only one with any sense regarding how to make sure that black and white witches can come together in the future. For those who hate the character of Annalise, surprise she's back.

The writing was not that great. There were plot holes galore (I am restraining the urge to type out a major reveal that I seriously had to go back to the second book since there was no hint of that at all) and the repetitiveness of Nathan's dialogue could put an insomniac to sleep. We have a couple of major deaths and I honestly felt nothing. Maybe if we ever got to see into any of these people and not have them read so one dimensional I would have cared more. Heck, I still choke up thinking about His Dark Materials, book #2. A character you have read about over the years who dies should not make you feel indifferent.

The flow was pretty awful from beginning to end again. Everything is leading up to a great big battle and it really just came down to Nathan doing the whole villain monologue stuff with two of the supposed big bads.

Once again the world of Half Bad is not realized at all in the last book. There are still way too many unexplained things. It seems like people seem to have random powers that don't seem based in things we have seen before. And oh yeah, you don't get a lot of explaining about magic and powers once again in this book. We still don't get any explanation on how the non-magical are blithely walking around and don't seem to have an inkling about this ongoing witch versus black war. I need more history behind what caused this huge rift, and why witches of any kind would just turn on each other. What was the ultimate purpose in this? There seems to be a kind of inkling that one of the white witches wants absolute power, but I really didn't want to puzzle this mess out anymore so went and made myself a gin and tonic.

The ending was a joke. It made no sense at all. And it really didn't hold true at all for Nathan's character that we have been with for three books. I guess I was supposed to be moved, but I just shrugged and put the book aside. I may have rolled my eyes and said well at least I didn't pay for this. Okay I totally did that. ( )

Engrossing books that I found hard to stop reading even though everyone left me feeling scared and sad. ( )
