No current Talk conversations about this book. previous published as My First Day This book is a great picture book for young children. I liked reading this book because of the point of view the story was being told in and the characters that were presented. This book was told in first person which is a great way to keep readers engaged and make them feel as if they are in the character's shoes. For instance, a child would read "here's my book. It's my first day!" Young children reading this book can relate to this because they all have been through the first day of school. The second reason I was entertained by this book was because of its characters. Although the characters were animals, the were believable and young readers can relate. Lastly, the main idea of this book is to inform young children about the first day of school. This was such a cute book! I used this book for one of my internship to help my students focus on their sight words. That is one of the things that I loved about the book. The story was so simple that you can focus on just the language. The sight words were repeated throughout the book and there was a wide range of them. For example, there were words like I, come, and my. The story was comprehensible and the book was able to be used for word recognition. Another thing that I like about the book is that it is about a cute bear on their first day of school! The book covers every part of school and what you do in school. For little ones who are getting ready to go to school for the first time, this is a great book for them to read. For example, the book shows the bear hanging his stuff on his hook, doing arts and crafts, and eating lunch with his classmates. The message of the story or big idea is just a trip to school on the first day. Don't be scared for the first day of school because it is simple and can be fun! At the end of the story, the bear was saying that he can't wait to go to school the next day! A great story for new students! no reviews | add a review
